Park Electrochemical Corp. Discontinues It’s N6000 Product Line

Lake Success, New York, February 6, 2003… Park Electrochemical Corp. (NYSE – PKE) announced that it had decided to not resume production of its discontinued N6000 product line. Park is providing technical assistance for the transitioning of existing programs to alternate products.

Park Electrochemical Corp. previously reported that on November 27, 2002, an explosion occurred in one of the four treaters located at its Nelco/Singapore manufacturing facility, and the treater in question was essentially destroyed. The destroyed treater had been especially retrofitted and converted to produce the company’s global N6000 product line.

The company has now completed a detailed examination of the current and future requirements of direct customers and original equipment manufacturer’s (OEMs) for this product. Park has also explored the feasibility of retrofitting another treater, which would require approximately one year. The decision to not resume production of the N6000 product line was based on the ability to convert N6000 programs to the N4000-13 product series, the absence of predictable future usages of N6000 and the company’s inability to supply N6000 product for a minimum of one year.

Park is offering technical assistance for customers and OEMs through this transition period and does have some N6000 inventory available for existing programs. In most cases, active programs have been fulfilled with inventory or have already been converted to Park/Nelco’s N4000-13 or N4000-13 SI™ product series.
